Cleaning Tips & Facts

It is sad to say that we are all getting used to living in times where we cannot do the things we normally love to do. In order to get back to where we were, an important step you can take it to keep your home in perfect shape to prevent the spread of germs.

According to the CDC these three steps are some of the critical ones in keeping your home clean:

  • Use disposable or reusable gloves while cleaning. Make sure to wash your hands as soon as you take them off.
  • When cleaning surfaces, first use soap and water and then use disinfectant.
  • Use disinfectants on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to disinfect your home.

Some germs can remain on surfaces for hours and even days. It is important to engage in residential cleaning often. According to Healthline, a study shows that Covid has different lifespans on different household services.

Copper- 8 hours

Cardboard- 24 hours

Stainless Steel- 48 hours

Plastic- 3 days

Aside from just Covid, people bring germs into their homes every day without even knowing. Even just a quick trip to the grocery store can be fatal in times like these. Wash your hands and continue to wash surfaces. You never know what has germs on it, so try to eliminate them from entering your home.

To disinfect, the CDC recommends using a diluted household bleach solution or an alcohol-based solution with at least 70% of alcohol. Nizafa considers and uses steps proposed by the CDC when providing residential cleaning services. If you are trying to disinfect a surface, make sure you let the disinfectant sit for about 30 seconds before wiping.

It is also important to disinfect surfaces other than hard surfaces, such as electronics and soft surfaces. There is no limit as to where Covid can go. Hopefully we all clean soft surfaces such as beds and couches anyway, but it is important to be consistent with doing so.

According to MD Anderson Cancer Center, the 11 high-touch objects to disinfect include:

  • Cell phone
  • Light switches
  • Computer keyboards
  • Computer mouse
  • Doorknobs
  • Steering wheel
  • Stick shifts
  • Remote controls
  • Refrigerator
  • Faucets
  • Toilet handles

Be sure that you are getting all of the spots that have the potential to keep germs in your home. Take advantage of a residential cleaning service so you know you have experienced professionals that you can trust.
